WALL-E
7/12/08
This movie is adorable. You have WALL-E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-class), with the cutest pet I've ever seen, even though he's a cockroach. The two meet EVE, a robot looking for signs of plant life on Earth to make sure the planet is able to be inhabited again after long being abandoned by the human race (so much pollution by humans caused all humans to leave, ironically). Everyone is unhealthy, watches TV, and has a consistent schedule every day that never breaks in the slightest. When WALL-E starts to develop feelings for EVE, he chases her to the alternate planet developed for use by humans - serviced by endless amounts of robots - and tries to win her heart while inadvertently holding the future of mankind in his robotic hand: a single plant found by EVE on planet Earth that proves it is safe for the humans to return to their home planet.
The majority of this movie takes place in the far future, where WALL-E is the only one left of his kind after the project to clean up Earth was abandoned. There is craziness with a fire extinguisher in space, robots chasing WALL-E all around the secondary planet, and humans getting out of their normal routine for once.
The graphics are very advanced for something so cutesy, but the film isn't saccharine. The romantic scenes are genuinely soft, and the entirety of the movie is enjoyable, even though neither WALL-E nor EVE can say anything but their names. I wish the cockroach had a bigger part, though!
All in all, I was very entertained. Definitely one of my favorites. 9.0.
